FacebookTwitterEmail this pagePrint this page

The amount of power lost depends on: the distance of the generator from customers – more power is lost the further it travels. the voltage and resistance of the transmission lines – the โ€œqualityโ€ of the line. how much power is flowing through the line – a more heavily loaded line means more heat and more losses.

2 types of Systems Loss Factors:

Technical

  • Core Loss or No-Load Loss
  • Conductor Loss or Load Loss
  • Unbalanced Distribution System
  • Undersized and Overloaded Conductors
  • Overloaded distribution Transformers and Power Substations

Non-technical

  • Meter-reading error
  • Direct Theft and Illegal Connection
  • Billing Irregularity
  • ROW Line Hindrances
  • Leaking Insulators
